Pipefitter Books

Pipefitter Books

This is where you'll find our books on pipe fitting, pipe fabricating, and pipe layout. While most of the information is exactly the same by necessity, there is some information that is different in each book or manual I know because I have scoured the different books looking for that one tidbit of info that would make something work. I don't know how this works but it was aalways in the last books or the one I left at home.

    Pipe Fitter’s Math Guide

This is the math of pipe fitting written as simply as it can be. All rules of thumbs and the trades secrets are based on math. A pipe fitter can be okay or pretty good without a strong math knowledge but he or she will never be excellent. Once learned this math can be used in any trade because the math doesn't change. Showing how to use the calculator makes it even better. This book not only contains the pipe fitting math formulas but teaches how to use them. Pipe Fitter's Math Guide was written to provide the math for pipefitters directly. It is about as straightforward as you can get.

    Pipe Fitter's Blue Book

Our most popular book. Sometimes called the Pipefitter's Bible. Many fitters say that if they could have just one book on the job this would be the "one". Mr. W.V. Graves was a pipe fitting instructor at Lee College in Baytown, TX. He wrote two books and one of them has been translated into Spanish. A102—The Pipe Fitters Blue Book is A123—Manual de Plomeria (El Libro Azul). His second book is A112—Pipe Fabricators Blue Book. A102 is a lighter blue than A112 and covers mostly the use of fittings while A112, the darker blue book, works mostly with fabricating turns and intersections cut from the pipe itself.

    Pipe Layout Helps

A fine little manual for your pocket. When it was first published, it was smaller so that it would fit in one's wallet. It was hard on the eyes especially old eyes so we made it a tad bit larger. Still it's a fine thing to keep in your pocket as you move around a job site. It has a lot of the information that you are going to need.

The Piping Guide for the Design and Drafting of Industrial Piping Systems

Talk about a pipe design bible. This book has been used to teach generations of pipe designer and draftsmen. It tells you how to think about pipe layout then takes you through it. It is an odd book in that it goes from the front and from the back to the front. From thew front you learn about The equipment, fittings, valve, their organization and layout and the drafting and design. From the back you get the standards and codes that you need for the design.

    Pipefitters Handbook

From the PREFACE: This handbook is, to a large extent, the working notebook of the author. It is based on material collected and used by him over a period of thirty-five years of practical experience as a pipefitter. The notes explain and illustrate the basic problems of pipebending and the fabrication of welded fittings together with the principles applied in solving those problems in the shortest and best way. The handbook provides immediate answers, without the need for lengthy calculations, to all kinds of problems found in power and industrial pipebending and the fabrication of welded fittings. It contains sections on soldering and brazing, types K, L and M copper tube, DWV copper drainage tube, plastic pipe, screwed offset connections, rolling offsets, dimensions of Schedule 40, 80 and 120 steel and wrought iron pipe and other. Thus steamfitters, pipe welders, plumbers, hydraulic fitters, layout men and apprentices will find acceptable solutions to pipe bending and fabrication problems on jobs where quick answers are needed the most. Compact and pocket-sized, this handy reference contains thousands of facts and figures relevant to pipefitters, steamfitters-anyone concerned with layout and installation of pipe. Features Provides answers to all sorts of problems indigenous to power and industrial pipebending, and the fabrication of welding fittings in both shop and field. Logically categorizes all material according to job description, supporting each working table with a clear example of how to use it. Includes a special reference section that gives instant data on the 24 most useful on-the-job subjects, such as spark tests for metals, sheet metal weights, valve types, weights and measures, and many more. Discusses all types of bends; elbows, tees, and crosses; plastic pipe; soldering and brazing; travel and run; fitting dimensions; threading pipe; relative physical properties; and more.

    Selected Piping Problems

This book is a gem. Mr. Bowman wrote this book after he wrote A110—"Modern Methods of Pipe Fabrication". He called the calculations he used, Triangulations. He used the take outs of elbows unknown and flanges to get the angles of the elbows and cut lengths. These aren't easy calculations but he shows how to arrive at answers that you need. Working this book will make you a better pipefitter.  These are the formulas for pipe fitting and fabrication.

    Modern Methods of Pipe Fabrication

I like Mr. Bowman's books. Sometimes he explains parts of pipefitting the way you think it has to be but have never seen it in words and other times, he shows how to solve problems. You start out wishing you had never seen a problem such as this but once you work one of them, you hope you get such a problem because you know how to work it. Most of all he shows how to think about solutions. Look at some of these solutions in the table of contents. There is a difference in understanding what needs to be done and being able to do it. Modern Methods of Pipe Fabrication helps you learn both. He gives you the formulas for pipe fabrication then how to work them.

    Pipe Fabricator's Blue Book

This is W.V. Graves's pipe fabricator's book. It is a companion to his Pipe Fitter's Blue Book (A102). This book covers the measuring, marking, and cutting of pipe to make pipe turns and intersections. This book, like the two other fabrication books we sell, contains lots of charts of numbers. For pipefitters who go by the colors of the pipe manuals, this is the dark blue one. Clink the link for "See Details" to see the "Table of Contents" for this fine book.
